New bus shelter artwork

If you’re out and about in West Bedlington today, you might have noticed that we have refreshed twelve bus shelters in the town which feature brand-new VE 80 themed artwork from our fabulous primary schools.

We thought VE Day 80 was the perfect occasion to demonstrate the unquestionable artistic talent we have within our schools and bring a splash of colour and joy to the town.

We’d just like to say a big thanks to St Bede’s Catholic Primary School, Meadowdale Primary Academy, West End Primary School and Whitley Memorial C of E Primary School for taking part. The artwork is absolutely fantastic!

To celebrate VE Day 80, we’re throwing two three-course wartime meals with entertainment – one in the afternoon, and one on the evening of Friday 9th May. Make sure you’re following West Bedlington Town Council Events on Facebook for booking information as we have dedicated event organiser who handles this side of our service offering.

VE Day 80 is not only a tribute to those who fought for freedom, but also a powerful reminder of the resilience and unity that have defined our country ever since.
