Safeguarding Bedlington’s past, present and future

Bedlington is a vibrant town in south-east Northumberland with approximately 18,500 residents and a diverse mix of historic and modern buildings.

West Bedlington Town Council represents two thirds of Bedlington, including the town centre and the villages of Nedderton and Hartford Bridge to the west. We work hard to safeguard Bedlington’s past, present and future to ensure the town continues to be a great place to live, work and visit, whilst preserving the town's rich heritage.

Our services include:

  • Allotments – not their management
  • Bus shelters
  • Children’s play areas (not Doctor Pit Park)
  • Community events
  • Remembrance Sunday event
  • Christmas lights switch-on event
  • School holiday events for children
  • Summer music event
  • Community grants
  • Community CCTV provision
  • Community defibrillators
  • Grit bins – if Northumberland Council won’t supply them, we might
  • Litter bins – the provision of, not the emptying of litter bins
  • Public seating
  • War memorial
  • Christmas light provision
  • Christmas tree
  • Christmas gifts for primary schools
  • Planter provision and flower planting
  • Notice boards - provision and maintenance
  • Town gateway features
  • Road speed-awareness signs – their maintenance not their provision

All other local council services, for example, housing, refuse collection, council tax and housing benefits are the responsibility of Northumberland County Council. You can report all sorts of issues, from fly tipping to street lighting at fix.northumberland.gov.uk or by calling 0345 600 6400.
